Our Story

Professional, Certified, & Trained

Pet Caregivers

Hi! I'm Rebecca, the founder of Ohana! This fun, furry journey began in 2012 when I started pet sitting for friends while living on Maui. Soon after returning to Louisville in 2014, I started a career as a Veterinary Technician, working in a variety of veterinary settings including emergency medicine, exotic pets, feline specialty, general canine & feline practice, hospice, palliative care, & in-home euthanasia. I became Fear Free Veterinary Certified in 2017 while working at Chenoweth Animal Hospital. My time spent working with the wonderful, compassionate Dr. Courtney Bennett, her clients, & her patients at Heart's Ease Veterinary Care inspired me to specialize in geriatric and mobility care.

Dog Playing — Louisville, KY — LouPETville

I left the world of veterinary medicine to complete my Bachelors Degree in Comparative Cultural Humanities at the University of Louisville and continued to pet sit & walk dogs for clients from clinics & hospitals at which I had worked as a Veterinary Technician. In August of 2018, Ohana Pet Care and Counseling (formerly LouPETville) was officially registered as a pet sitting & dog walking business specializing in veterinary, geriatric, & mobility care. What started as one person, now seven years later, we are now a wonderful team of seven. I use my professional training & experience & formal education to train, guide, & support my team members who also become Fear Free certified.

A Special Thanks

Special thanks to our friends at Heart's Ease Veterinary Care , The Cat Clinic of Louisville , Chenoweth Animal Hospital , & St. Matthews Animal Clinic for teaching me everything that I know about Veterinary Medicine; Dr. Tami Harbolt , Dr. Glynis Ridley , & Dr. Jonetta Weber at the University of Louisville for giving me an academic foundation in Animal Studies; &, of course, my mother Merle , for raising me to love & respect all animals. Without these people, Ohana would not be possible & I am forever grateful.
